One of the principal documents for the study of Bruges painters (or “picture makers”) from the 15th up to the 18th century, the so-called memorial list, was severely damaged during a bombardment at the end of World War II. Nowadays, the Bruges memorial list has been restored expertly.
As it is no longer justified to consult the piece in the reading room of the City Archives of Bruges, it is obvious that this important document should be disclosed digitally.
The Memorial list of Bruges painters is preserved at the City Archives of Bruges, Oud Archief, serial no. 314: Beeldenmakers.
